Nowadays Civil Line is a commercial place

Whatever it is but atleast we got to see the glimpses back to 1968. Amazing to see how we have transformed ourself after British left India. We have built India back again.And this couldn't have been possible without education. Education shaped us what we are today. He gave to be grateful to our leaders who build some prestigious institutes. British have left nothing for us to grow. It was Education which brought Indians on the world map.

What the bananas is up with Elton John's "Funeral for a Friend"? What a bizarre choice of music to pair with an otherwise feel-good look at Canada's biggest city. Mind you, it was neck-in-neck with Montreal for the title back then.

A city wasted and neglected since the beginning of the 1990s. Had the ruling state governments and the central government of India taken good care of this once a prosperous and well cultured and well educated city, it would have been like today's Pune or Bangalore or Hyderabad. Lucknow, Kanpur and Allahabad could have been like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune of the North India.

Very happy memories of working at Lord Kitchener's, under the Coca Cola sign at Piccadilly Circus - the big London souvenir off-shoot of its original, more famous outlet that launched the trend for vintage military jackets as seen on the Sergeant Peppers album cover and worn by Jimi Hendrix and Mick Jagger, amongst others - a couple of years before this film was taken, in 1970. I sold tee-shirts and posters and organised the lunch rotas. It was so much fun. I see the shutters are down here (at 0:50) so I wonder if it had already closed down by then, or if this was taken early in the morning before it opened - not until around 10am, if I remember correctly... Looking on Google Earth, I see the premises are now a boring old Boots the Chemist and the neon signs are all digitalised/ sterilised. All the fun and vibrancy appear to have gone out of the place. Why any tourists would want to go there now, I don't know. it used to be so vibrant, a real gathering point for the internationally roaming hippie youth of the world. Thanks for posting, and bringing back some lovely memories. <3
